Why we need your help

The Hospice is in urgent need of an upgrade

Our in-patient and day care facilities are over 28 years old, and wear and tear have taken their toll.

The dedicated nursing team do a fantastic job, but now the building is stopping them from providing the care they want to offer. The hospice needs to improve the environment for patients and their carers - providing easier access, reducing waiting times, and enabling more patients to be treated. Improvements are also needed for our day care facilities, outpatient and therapy services.

  • Single en-suite rooms will replace the multi-bedded wards - adding greater dignity and privacy for patients.
  • Patients will have their own toilet facilities, will be able to control their heating, lighting, ventilation and music, and talk with relatives or carers in complete privacy.
  • A new communal area will enable patients to socialise and chat.
  • Day care services, currently provided in one large room, will be improved with a number of rooms for clinical and support services.
  • Four consulting rooms will be created within a new outpatient area.
  • Therapy services will be properly integrated with both inpatient and day care services.
  • A new chapel will be created.

What we do

Caring for local people since 1982

Every year, Compton Hospice provides palliative care for around 1,500 people with cancer and other life-limiting diseases. Our patients come from Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall, South Staffordshire, East Shropshire and Sandwell. At any one point in time, the hospice is typically caring for over 625 local people through an in-patient unit, day care facilities, community nurse specialist teams and other services.

For nearly three decades, Compton Hospice has been praised for the excellent standard of care given to desperately ill local men and women – and their families – at the most difficult time they will face. All of this care is provided absolutely free of charge.
