Santa city

North Pole came to Wolverhampton on Friday 19th December when members of the public, hospice staff and volunteers all donned their Santa suits for a new fundraising initiative.

It is the first time that the hospice has tried the ‘wear a Santa Suit for a day’ event and it proved to be very popular.

Over forty people took part including Wolf Radio, Kelly Jones Hair Salon from Wednesfield, Wolverhampton City Council and Logo Work and Leisure from Telford. They were also joined by various members of hospice staff and volunteers including nurses, social workers, accounting and charity shop staff.

Wolf radio DJ Dicky Dodd commented

“Myself and Laura are always looking for crazy things to do and being big supporters of Compton Hospice we jumped at the chance to take part.

We had a blast in the ‘one size fits all’ suits, although mine didn’t need much padding, and it was an extremely easy way to raise money for such a wonderful charity.”

Community Fundraiser Michelle Price said

“I went out and about visiting people in their suits and they were all having a great time, especially Dicky and Laura in the studio.

Wolf Radio have always been keen supporters of the hospice and after his Nan was cared for by us, Dicky tries to help out as much as he can.

This type of event shows that fundraising isn’t always about exerting yourself, and putting in a lot of time and effort, it can be relatively simple and is a lot of fun.”

Compton Hospice would like to wish a Happy New year to everyone who took part and would like to thank them for their support. The event is expected to raise over £3000.
