Aged Rockers Reveal All
Bikes, Trikes, Bikini Babes and Beard Shaves was the order of the day for punters at The Giffard Arms Pub, when they chose to raise funds for Compton Hospice in memory of Rhiannon Turner, who frequented the Wolverhampton based pub with her partner John.
Bike clubs across the County were invited to attend the event where they could sample guest beers and great BBQ food, whilst having their mechanical pride and joy hand washed by The Giffard Arms Bikini Babes. Aged Rockers, John Silver, Mystic Mick and friends provided some entertainment for the day, when after years of hiding behind facial hair agreed to reveal their true identities allowing donors to pledge money to shave off their beards.
The evening’s entertainment consisted of a slave auction before guests were invited to listen to the calming music of Ozzmosis, the Ultimate Ozzy Osbourne Tribute Band.
Landlords of the pub situated on Victoria Street, Tom and Wendy Ansell vowed to hold an event every year in memory of Rhiannon, who sadly lost her battle to cancer in January 2006. Rhiannon was only in her 40’s when she passed away.
“Rhiannon was a lovely person, and the help she received at Compton was second to none,” commented Wendy, “Although a Sunday, the turn out to this event was fantastic, and we are hoping that next years fundraiser will be even bigger and better.”
The event raised over £2300 for the hospice.
