Cricketers stump up cash for Compton
A charity cricket match has helped to stump up valuable funds for Compton Hospice.
Gerry and Jeanne Turner, who are directors of Central City Cars Ltd, decided they wanted to support Compton Hospice and have a good time too.
The match, between some of the staff of Central and Wightwick and Finchfield Cricket Club, took place on Saturday 8th August at Castlecroft Road Cricket Ground and was attended by over 150 family and friends of the players.
There was a barbecue, games for the children, and various fundraising raffles and competitions. The glorious weather encouraged the crowds along and certainly helped the day go with a swing.
Gerry and Jeanne both said
“We wanted to raise money for a local cause and when we chose Compton Hospice, we were amazed at the number of people who experienced the hospice and the services it provides. We want to thank everyone who came along and helped us to raise £795.00.”
The match was won by Wightwick and Finchfield, giving Gerry and Jeanne the perfect excuse to organize a rematch!
Compton Hospice would like to thank everyone who supported Gerry and Jeanne in any way to organize a great family day and raise a fantastic amount of money.
