Dudley primary schools in good voice for Vivo 2 concert

Jesson’s Primary School will host Vivo ‘2’, a choir festival in aid of Compton Hospice on Thursday March 1st 2012.

They have organised the event themselves and invited other local primary schools to join them in a festival of choirs that will be held at Dudley Concert Hall.

There will be three performances during the day: morning from 10.15 to 12.15, afternoon from 1.15 to 3.15 and an evening performance from 7.00 to 9.00.

22 primary schools, including Jesson’s, from within the Dudley borough will be performing a variety of songs in two performances during the day.

The evening show will see performances from Fusion, Dudley’s largest rock choir, along with Jessons' very popular Jubilate choir and their younger Vocalize choir.  Also performing is a boys street dance group called Step4.

Lucy Griffiths, headteacher, said: ”We are looking forward to a wonderful day where, once again, the children and teachers from the local primary schools show the results of their hard work. And we hope to raise a lot of money for Compton Hospice."

Katie Love, schools liaison at Compton Hospice, said: “We are thrilled that Jesson’s Primary School have involved Compton Hospice in this wonderful event and really appreciate their support.  I’m sure the children will thoroughly enjoy performing and I can’t wait to hear the results of their hard work in putting this day together.

“We simply couldn’t continue our vital work, supporting patients coping with a life-limiting illness, without the help and generosity of our community.  We can’t thank Jesson’s school enough for their time, effort and enthusiasm in staging Vivo 2 and raising money for our charity.”

Jesson's Primary was praised highly by Ofsted as, 'A good school with many outstanding features' and was also awarded the prestigious Artsmark Gold award for the second time.  It combines high quality academic study with music, singing and performing along with the Christian ethos, to produce a rounded education for all pupils.

"We want to join with other schools to celebrate the excellent music we make in our primary schools and raise money for Compton Hospice," added Mrs. Griffiths.
