Getting Hitched Raises Money

- Leslie & Judy Smith present the cheques
Leslie and Judy Smith chose to raise money for Compton Hospice when they asked for donations instead of presents at their recent wedding.
The Bride and Groom tied the knot on the 5th January at St Andrews Church in Bentley. The service was carried out by the Right Reverend Bishop Paul Hunt in front of a packed congregation, and then over 150 guests attended a the reception at Golds Soccer Centre in Darlaston.
The happy couple met two years ago and fell in love almost immediately. As their wedding drew closer, Leslie and Judy decided that because they both had houses they were not in need of the usual towels and gifts that were normally given. So when preparing for their big day they agreed that their guests presence would be present enough and added to their invitations that any donations for the hospice would be gratefully received.
“Having the two houses and of course each other, we both have everything we need. By asking our guests to donate to the hospice makes it easier for them not to have to think of what to get us and also raises money for this worth while charity” commented Leslie.
“By seeing this, other people could decide to do the same thing, or even ask for donations instead of presents for different celebrations such as anniversaries, birthdays or at engagement parties” he added.
Compton Hospice would like to thank Mr and Mrs Smith and their guests for the donation of £400. The hospice would also like to thank the Smith family for allowing them to be a part of their special day and would like to wish them every happiness for the future.
