Record Numbers for Sponsored Walk

Compton Hospice’s sponsored walk broke hospice records for all previous walks this year.
Organisers decided to make the event more special by rebranding the walk as a memory walk, which attracted a lot more families.
The memory cards, where members of the public could write the name or display a picture of a family member or friend that they were taking part in memory for,
were a real hit, with some families taking a great amount of time to prepare them.
As well as a name change for the event, another addition was bespoke medals that were given out all finishing participants.
The event which took part on Sunday 28th June at West Park, Wolverhampton, attracted nearly 500 people who wanted to run, walk, jog, cycle and skate the 5 mile route, including a large number of participants from House of Fraser, Mid-counties Co-op and Primark
“Although our sponsored walk has been increasing in size for the past few years, we couldn’t have dreamed of having this many people”, commented Michelle Price, Events Fundraiser for the hospice,
“The walk has always been an emotional event and even more so now that it is actually a memory walk.”
she added
“It is such an easy way, and fun way for all of the family to celebrate the life of loved ones that they miss dearly.”
Compton Hospice would like to thank everybody who took part in this year’s event, which is expected to raise more than £20,000 for the hospice.
