Sainsburys walk tall for Linda
A local Sainsbury’s have recently completed a sponsored walk in memory of their colleague Linda Rawlings.
Linda sadly lost her battle against cancer at the hospice and her colleagues, friends and family wanted to remember her and say thank you for the fantastic care she received by hospice staff.
The walk took place from Arley to Alveley Country Park, a distance of 7 miles. About 20 staff from the Bridgnorth store took part, along with many of Linda’s friends and family. The weather was lovely and everyone stopped halfway to have a picnic.
A massive £1300 has been raised and this will increase by £500 due to the “Sainsbury’s Heroes” scheme, which encourages colleagues to support charities and activities in their local community.
The money raised has been used to purchase a Laser Gun for the Lymphoedema Clinic, equipment that the hospice has previously had to hire.
Jane Wigg, Lymphoedema Nurse Manager said
"We are delighted to at last be able to purchase this equipment, which will make a difference to so many patients in the future. We are grateful to everyone involved in the walk and thank them all very much”
Pauline Cutler, a colleague of Linda, said “Linda was one of our best cashiers and we all miss her very much. We are glad that we have been able to help the hospice who provided excellent care and support for Linda and her family at such a difficult time.”
