Compton Hospice’s Annual Sponsored Walk took on a huge facelift this year.

Organisers decided to make the event more colourful by issuing participants yellow hospice balloons, and race numbers. Also in attendance was ‘Sammy the Sunflower’, the hospice’s new mascot.

Another popular addition this year were the memory cards attached to the backs of the participants t-shirts. These cards were where members of the public could write the name or display a picture of a family member or friend that they were taking part in memory for.

The event which took part on Sunday 15th June at West Park, Wolverhampton, attracted more than 200 people who wanted to run, walk, jog, cycle and skate the 5 mile route.

“Our sponsored walk has been increasing in size for the past few years, and this year we wanted to make sure that everyone went away with happy colourful memories”, commented Michelle Price, Community Fundraiser for the hospice, she added

“The new additions have gone down fantastically well, especially the memory cards that have brought an emotional side to the event.”

Compton Hospice would like to thank everybody who took part in this year’s event, which is expected to raise more than £7000 for the hospice.
