Stage Show Supports Compton
West Bromwich Operatic Society has recently donated £2000 to Compton Hospice following another successful year of stage shows at the Grand Theatre Wolverhampton and the Dormston Mill Theatre in Sedgely.
The society, which rehearses at All Saints School in West Bromwich, is a non profit making organization and supports local charities each year.
In 2008, they staged Show Boat and Boogie Nights. Once all costs had been covered, the £2000 profit made by the society was donated to the hospice. The cheque was presented to Sally Woods by John Wetherall and Sam Robinson of WBOS, who braved the freezing weather to dress at their characters for the company’s next production – La Cage aux Folles.
Sally Woods said “We are delighted to have been chosen by WBOS to receive this money. The whole society works extremely hard to put on each show and it is all done in their own time. They are not only providing superb entertainment for the local community, they have also raised a considerable amount of money which we be used for the benefit of our patients and their families. We wish them good luck for their next production”.
