The Fundracers Tour De Cymru
The Fundracers are a team of 12 very determined friends who have chosen to go that extra mile, quite literally, in the name of charity.
From the 27th April until 2nd may 2010 the guys will be attempting to cycle 600 miles around the coast and borders of Wales to raise vital funds for 12 different charities.
Each person taking part is riding for a different charity which they have had experience with in the past and would just like to give something back to these charities for all the good work they have done.
One of the participants, Gareth Williams, a leisure manager from Wrexham, has chosen to support Compton Hospice after a family member had valuable care from the hospice during her battle with cancer.
He said
“My girlfriend’s mother was very ill and the hospice did everything possible to help comfort her. Unfortunately she lost her fight, but the care she received and the way the hospice helped my girlfriend and her family in a very difficult time was brilliant, and I will always be thankful to them for that”
The team have a number of events taking place before the actual ride such as band nights, race nights and other various fundraising activities. By the end of the ride they aim to have raised £24,000 at the very least which would mean £2000 per charity.
