The Summer House Illuminations
Lapland to was brought to Sedgley this Christmas by the tenants of The Summer House Pub, located on Gospel End Road.
Every Year for the past six years John and Pauline Coombes have out decorated every pub in the county with their Christmas Illuminations, and this year was no exception. The couple decided to raise money for Compton Hospice by turning their usual packed out switching on ceremony into a charity evening, raising over £1000.
“It started six years ago; I was just bored and decided to throw some lights up to cheer me up. We both love Christmas and Pauline thought that maybe we should decorate the pub every year, things just escalated from there really,” explained John, “We now start planning for our lights in March, we design and build all of our own props such as the train, and usually spend about £5000 making our display bigger and better every year.”
John and his wife Pauline are currently sourcing an animation control system from America for next year’s lights, which will enable them to create the image of a dancing pub. Their aim is to improve from having the best light display in the County, to having the best display in the UK.
