During 28th June to 3rd of July Compton Hospice have been lucky enough to not only have one, but two teams attempting the famous 3 peaks challenge.

After months of training, planning and preparation, the challenge to summit the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in a 24hr period was tackled firstly by of Bob Secker, Andy Smith, Steve Wall, Mark Hines and Craig Shaw, from Dudley on 28th June, in the most horrendous weather.

Two brighter days later on 2nd July, Michael Wall, Craig Jones-Newey, Carl Hancox, Adam Hemmings, Matthew Biggs, David Ridgeway and Robert Wilson, from Halesowen set off on their attempt.

Not only did the groups have to consecutively endure the tough climbs of Ben Nevis, Scotland which stands at 1344m, Scafell Pike in the Lake District at 978m and Snowdon in Wales at 1085m, with very little rest but they also had transport themselves and their kit over 500 miles from one mountain to the next.

Compton Hospice would like to congratulate both groups for completing the challenge in the allotted time frame, Bob Secker’s group in 22 hours 56 minutes and Michael Wall’s in a staggering 17 hours 48 minutes. The two teams raised over £5500 between them.
