Network Night Raises Cash

- Mr Jason Banger (second from left) and Mr Beja Kumar, accompanied by ladies from the Women’s network present the cheque to fundraising volunteer Elaine Harrison.
Members of the Pennfields Women and Children’s Network have raised £1,500 for Compton Hospice by holding a charity night at the beginning of January.
The Kings Hall in Bilston was the venue for the women and children only event that attracted more than 270 members of the public. Demand was so great for tickets that only the luckiest people got them after the event sold completely out, leaving a further 100 people who had to be turned away.
Mr Jason Banger from The Kings Hall, sponsored the event, that provided a two course meal served by waiters supplied from East 2 West waitering service. Entertainment was provided from DJ Desi Touch, Nachdi Jawani Dance Group and Birmingham based band Mob-Inc-Ume. Guests were also treated to the sounds of vocal group Jinx who made the journey from Manchester to perform.
The money was raised through ticket sales and raffling donated prizes such as free hairdressing and facials, high street shopping vouchers, free car services and a beautiful sari. The star of the show, a gold ring that had been donated from The Gold Palace on Dudley Road in Wolverhampton was auctioned and alone made £75.
Mr Beja Kumar, Chairperson of the network said “Parminder and her team organised an excellent night, full credit must go to them. The public were so generous on the evening and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I have had many people asking me when the next one will be.”
Parminder Sroy added “I first started fundraising for Compton Hospice over 20 years ago with small donations here and there. The hospice is a fantastic charity that provides a key service to the people of Wolverhampton and the surrounding areas; it was a natural choice for our fundraising event.”
Compton Hospice would like to thank Jason Banger, Beju Kumar, Parminder Sroy and her 9 strong team who were Nighat, Vidya, Kuldip, Supriya, Chau, Asha, Kamla, Rajni and Rita, for all of their hard work in organising this event.
