Create a Card for Compton campaign sells 3,000 cards
Mountain Ash Crafts, based at Halfpenny Green Vineyards, were delighted to present a hand made Christmas card to Compton Hospice. This marks the 3,000 cards sold in the campaign so far.
Mathew Hill, of Mountain Ash Crafts, realising how popular card making had become, encouraged his customers to donate a card for Compton.
He said: “I’ve been delighted by the response. I am overwhelmed by the generosity of our customers who are obviously spurred on by such a good cause; any money made through selling them can benefit patients and families at the hospice.”
The campaign took the interest of some national craft magazines so the charity is receiving cards from all over the country.
Karen Phillips, corporate fundraiser for the hospice and co-ordinator of the campaign said: “This campaign, which is now entering into its third year, shows no sign of slowing down. The generosity of the card making community is unstinting and I would like to thank everyone who is taking part.
“This is such a simple idea and yet it raises massive funds. Compton sell the cards for £1 each and, as there is no outlay on our part, all the money will go straight to patient and family care.”
The cards are distributed to local businesses to sell to colleagues, customers and suppliers as a fundraising venture.
