Barclays Bank Charity of the Year

Barclays Bank Charity of the Year

The corporate fundraising team at Wolverhampton’s Compton Hospice are celebrating a major coup after signing up their first corporate partner for 2006. Compton has been strengthening existing links with businesses and forging new relationships over the past months in a bid to raise its corporate profile.

Now its hard work has paid off with the backing of Barclays Dudley Centre that hope to boost the hospice’s coffers over the next 12 months. The Dudley Centre office has named Compton Hospice as its 2006 charity of the year.

Corporate fundraiser, Karen Bowyer has concentrated on all aspects of corporate fund-raising over the past eight months and is thrilled at securing her first major corporate signing.

Staff are set to get involved directly in projects at the Hospice, as well as organising fundraising events throughout the year. They’ve already revealed plans to build a quiet area, with a water feature, in the hospice gardens.

Dudley Centre Management Team said: We’re really looking forward to getting more directly involved with the Hospice. Hopefully, this will enable us to experience first-hand the real impact our work is having. At Barclays we actively encourage our staff to get involved within the communities in which we operate. Achieving something ‘together’ is a great way of building community spirit and we hope our connection with the Hospice will deliver tangible benefits”.

Karen said: “We can offer ideas, support, help with organisation of events, whatever Barclays need, and by acting as a business partnership, we can help maintain our, and the company’s profile in the local community”.

Karen aims to create a support network for any local businesses who wish to raise money and get more involved with Compton. Anyone wanting to get further information on fundraising within the business community should ring 01902 774532.
