Staff and Customers at Boundary Mill Stores, Walsall raised nearly £5,000 during 2004/05 for their nominated charity, Compton Hospice. Lisa Carter, Store Manager handed the cheque to Karen Bowyer, Corporate Fundraiser for Compton Hospice on Friday 13th January 2006.

Staff at the Bentley Mill Way store organsied a range of events including a Sponsored Slim, Charity Auctions, Easter Raffle, Bonus Ball Competition and a Non-Uniform Day.

Donations were also made by customers, who also bought Boundary Mill teddy bears and umbrellas.

Lesley Edwards (pictured on the left with Claire Butler) told Karen about a Lost Property Auction where a donkey with three legs raised the most money. Lesley said:

“We named him Donk. Everyone wanted him; we said he was homeless. We also auctioned sheets which were paid for and left by a customer.

“We had enormous fun raising the money and all the staff took part. Compton Hospice is a great cause and close to a lot of our hearts.”

The Christmas Hamper raffle was so popular it provided three hampers in the end.

Karen Bowyer of Compton Hospice said: “We would like to thank the staff at Boundary Mill Store and their customers for their fundraising. Company adoptions are an important part of our fundraising efforts and are much appreciated in our constant challenge to foot the £4.6 million annual running costs of the Hospice.”
