Children's calendar coins it in for the hospice

Ten children from across have been named as winners in a competition to become 'face of the month' on a fundraising calendar for Compton Hospice.

More than 40 children entered the contest, and all have been pictured on the limited edition calendar, but a chosen few will had their picture displayed on a dedicated month. All other pictures featured on one of four special ‘montage’ pages.

Judges including former Wolves footballer and hospice ambassador Ruth Badger were tasked with the difficult job of choosing their favourite photos for a star spot.

The calendar is the brainchild of award-winning photographers, husband and wife team David and Sally Perkins of Eden Photography in Chapel Ash.

David, owner of Eden Photography, said: “We thought this would provide a fantastic memento for parents to keep or give as gifts at Christmas while, at the same time, raising money for a very worthy, local charity.

“We wanted to make it especially relevant to the area as well, and took a lot of the photographs on location at landmarks across which has given it a real local feel.

“There was a fantastic response to the appeal for models and we’re really pleased with the results. I hope others agree and buy the keepsake so we can make lots of money for the hospice.”

Every family involved in the project received a complementary copy of the 2008 calendar, and further copies were on sale at studios and at Compton Hospice.

All profit from further copies sold will go directly to the charity.

Compton Hospice’s corporate fundraiser, said: “Eden Photography has struck up a close relationship with the hospice since opening their latest studio in April and we think this is a fantastic idea.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to David and Sally at and to all the children who have taken part.

The venture has raised over £1,000

“I know the judges found it almost impossible to choose the winners as all the photographs were so lovely.”
