Companies chip in for charity
Two Wolverhampton charities clubbed together to host their third 'Tee 4 Two' Golf Day on Thursday May 13, raising £5,000.
Nineteen teams chipped in to support Compton Hospice and Beacon Centre for the Blind at the annual event held at Worfield Golf Club.
Local businesses including Muras Baker Jones Accountants, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Barclays Corporate joined in the fun, which ended with a dinner and charity auction at the Bridgnorth venue.
Winners’ trophies were awarded with Corus Slit bagging first place, and Compton Hospice’s Chief Executive, Ron Middleton, was sent home with the booby prize!
Further chances to win were offered with prizes for nearest the pin and the longest drive, sponsored by Kendrick Construction and Easy Web Presenter.
Corporate fundraiser at Compton Hospice, Simon Cater, said: “It was a fantastic day and all the golfers enjoyed being a part of it, especially knowing they were helping two charities with one stroke, so to speak.
“We have been running this as a joint venture for three years now and working together has proved extremely beneficial for us and the Beacon Centre.
“By pooling our resources, it makes organisation of the day much easier and means we each still get a good return.
“We have already set next year’s date for June 9, 2011, and as word is spreading I can see us having an even bigger turn out.”
