ZORBING, CLIMBING, POLICE DOGS AND MORE AT COMMUNITY FUN DAY

Officers from Wolverhampton Police's neighbourhood policing teams in the south west of the city are inviting members of the public to join in with a Community Fun Day next Friday, 27 August.

Families can take advantage of a whole host of free attractions at West Park from 10am until 4pm.

Attractions include five-a-side football, nail painting, a giant rock climbing wall, a challenging but fun inflatable assault course and the chance to have a go at the increasingly popular activity of water zorbing.

Officers from West Midlands Police’s Dogs Unit are also promising to impress with a special presentation which will showcase the best of the force’s canine recruits.

The event is being organised by the Local Neighbourhood Partnerships and Wolverhampton Police and will support local charity, Compton Hospice, through donations on the day.

Partners taking part include West Midlands Fire Service, Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust’s Sexual Health Team, Wolverhampton City Council’s Youth Services Team, Terrence Higgins Trust, Park Rangers, Aldersley Leisure, BSM Driving School and Base 25.

PC Joe Trusselle, who has organised the day, said: “This is a great way of building up relationships between police officers and the communities we serve while also breaking down barriers with young people.

“The day will be as much about education as it will about having fun – with police and community support officers on hand to talk to families about the importance of crime prevention as well as several performances from a local drama group about the consequences of gun and knife crime.

“There will be lots of organisations taking part in the event and I’d encourage everyone to come along and make the most of what, I’m sure, is going to be a fantastic day with something for everyone.”
