Christmas cheer

Santa made an early appearance at a Christmas Bazaar to raise money for Compton Hospice on Saturday(November 24).

Organised by staff and volunteers there were Christmas decorations, cakes, crafts, candles and toys on sale at the event.

Visitors also chanced their luck on the tombola stalls and raffle, with prizes including a signed, limited edition Steve Bull print, a CD player, and a cut and blow dry at Royston Blythe of.

The event, took place in the plush surroundings of Compton Hall at the hospice site, It has become a regular fixture on the hospice calendar, raising up to £2,000 a year.

All the money goes towards the Patients’ Comfort Fund, which both patients and families can access to pay for little extras like the hairdressing services offered at the hospice, or stocking the drinks cupboard so patients can enjoy the occasional tipple.

One of the organisers, volunteer Jean Johnson, said: “We’ve had tremendous support in setting up the event, with donated Christmas decorations from Gardenland to sell and lots of children’s toys for the tombola stall, we want to thank everyone who made the event possible.”
