In-Patient Jubilee Celebrations

On Monday 4thJune, the in-patient unit held a spectacular mini street party along the newly named ‘Diamond Jubilee Street’, which happened to be the corridor running along the ward.

Themed music was provided by the Compton choir who performed favourites such as Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory.

A long table decorated in red, white and blue was laid out so patients and their families could come along for a bite to eat and sing-a-long.

An array of food, donated by staff, friends and relatives included beautifully cut sandwiches that the best hotels in London would have been proud of, along with samosas and spring rolls adding to the variety. There was an abundance of intricately decorated cakes which left our nurses stunned by everyone’s generosity and talent.

The visiting children occupied their time with jubilee games and then enjoyed a specially written jubilee quiz, although some found question 8 a little tricky as we had asked how long HM The Queen has been crowned and of course the answer is 59 years as the 60thAnniversary for the coronation is next year.

The afternoon was a great success measured by how many fantastic comments our ward staff received the following week from patients and families, a great deal of enjoyment was had celebrating our Queen’s 60 year reign.
