She's beside you with £5k cheque from lottery win!

Here's 5,000 reasons why Sue Poole's festive holiday just got better.  The 54-year-old of Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill, scooped top prize in Compton Hospice's annual Christmas Countdown lottery.

She won a £5,000 cash prize as well as the chance to meet pantomime star Nicky Evans on stage at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre. "I still can't believe I won," said the grand-mother-of-five. "I never win anything but I'm delighted I have done. I was thinking about buying myself a little car and this will go nicely towards that - as well as a bit of sales shopping of course."

The credit controller was drawn out of the hat for the yearly fundraiser after buying a ticket at Poundland in Brierley Hill. Husband Andy who answered the call to tell her she had won said: "I didn't even know she'd entered the competition - I was gob smacked."

Jenni Marson, sales co-ordinator at Compton Hospice, said the lottery, which includes cash prize draws, had raised £54,000.
