Charity store is one in a million
A charity furniture store that's made more than £1 million for Compton Hospice has been rewarded with a facelift.
The second-hand furniture shop is set to re-open its doors on Thursday, August 2 after a complete refit.
In seven years, it has raised a total of £1,062,000 for the charity through the sale of donated furnishings and bric-a-brac and the hospice wanted to recognise this remarkable achievement.
The refurbishment was planned for Silver Jubilee year, and the shop will be decorated accordingly and have lots of silver items on display for its opening as part of the celebrations.
General Manager of Compton Hospice’s Trading Company, Sue Chance, said: “Our furniture store is one of our most successful charity shops and the hospice relies heavily on this fantastic income.
“Due to the tremendous customer count that the shop has enjoyed over the years, it was looking extremely tired and grubby, so it was decided to redecorate and brighten up the shop as part of the charity’s 25 year celebrations.
“We will be putting out an exclusive range of ‘extra special’ nearly new furniture for the opening, including a cream leather 3 piece suite which is like new.
“All the staff are really pleased with the results of the refurb and we’re looking forward to inviting back our regular customers, and welcoming new ones.
“We hope they will be pleasantly surprised by the new look.”
All profits from the shop help maintain the hospice’s services in and around, which include community nursing, in-patient care, complementary therapy, social work and bereavement counseling.
