Cracker of a Christmas show for volunteers
Staff at the hospice put on a cracker of a Christmas variety performance to thank volunteers for their continued support.
Acts included a Vicar of Dibley sketch, tap dancing and singing - even an appearance by Noddy - as Compton Hospice managers, nurses, fundraisers and support staff showcased their talents to entertain the helpers.
More than 150 volunteers attended the extravaganza on Friday, December 7 at Perton Community Centre which included a Christmas buffet and quiz.
Six volunteers were also presented with long service awards for their contribution to the hospice over 15 and 20 years. Volunteer service manager at the hospice Maggie Perry said: “We have more than 600 volunteers at Compton Hospice who make an invaluable contribution to the services we offer.
Whether they help out in the shops, in our admin offices or with patients in the day unit or ward, it is safe to say that without their help the hospice simply couldn’t function.
They selflessly give of their time, enabling us to offer the level of support we do to patients and families coping with a life-limiting illness in and around Wolverhampton. “We wanted to recognise the contribution of those who have been with us a long time with the awards, and give all of our volunteers a little something back to say thank you.”
