Palliative Care Pharmacist
(16 hours per week). Salary Band 8b
Compton Hospice is an independent hospice providing palliative care through a 22 bedded in-patient unit and on-site day care, together with an extensive home care service delivered by a team of qualified clinical nurse specialist prescribers; covering Wolverhampton, Dudley, Walsall, Sandwell and parts of Staffordshire and Shropshire.
We are looking for an entusiastic pharmacist who will plan, develop and provide highly specialist near patient pharmaceutical care. Working within a large multi-disciplinary team, you will attend consultant-led ward rounds and provide advice on risk management and pharmaceutical care related activities to a wide range of healthcare professionals. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work on your own initiative, calmly and accurately under pressure.
The post holder would be responsible for promoting effective medicines management within the hospice and its teams and would also be actively involved in the development of a hospice pharmacy technician role to help contribute to this service. Liasing with our contracted pharmacy supplier and monitoring the standard of the service provided is a key element.
You should have MRPharmS and Clinical Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years experience as a clinical pharmacist, preferably at least four years post registration. Previous experience of delivery of pharmaceutical care to a defined speciality and involvement in audit and guideline development would be desirable.

Corporate and Major Donor Fundraiser
(37.5 hours per week) Band 5 (scale on Band to be negotiated according to experience)
Compton Hospice fundraising department are looking for a confident, outgoing individual to further develop our corporate fundraising income and also to initiate a major donor fundraising programme.
Applicants should have experience of business to business liason at senior management level, have a sales or marketing background, be an excellent communicator, and have a good understanding of the local business community.
Previous experience in a fundraising environment is desirable, but not essential. Of greater importance is the determination to succeed, coupled with a personable and proactive attitude. We are looking for an individual who can achieve results whilst maintaining and promoting the positive image of Compton Hospice within the local corporate community and amongst potential major donors.

Lecturer Practitioner in Palliative & End of Life Care
37.5 hours per week. Band 7, up to £38,644
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, experienced health or social care professional to join the teaching and specialist multi-professional palliative care team at Compton Hospice Education and Training Centre.
We are looking for an innovative individual who possesses robust palliative/end of life care knowledge and skills and proven abilities in teaching, with a strong emphasis on psychological care. The role encompasses close links with higher education establishments.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Developing, promoting and teaching education programmes up to and including Masters level, to include
- Advanced communication: skills and theory
- Psychosocial, change and loss programmes: skills and theory
- Influencing local and national initiatives in palliative and end of life care
- Contributing to research
- Spending approx 20% of time in clinical practice
